Rappahannock Cellars to be featured in the 2008 Annual Tasting Panel Tour, Featuring the Double Gold Medal Winners.
HUNTLY, VA, October 6, 2008 – Rappahannock Cellars will be featured in a series of national wine tastings, hosted by The Tasting Panel Magazine; where the Double Gold Medal winning wines from the San Francisco International Wine Competition will be highlighted. Receiving a Double Gold Medal and being named “Best of Category”, qualified the Rappahannock Cellars 2006 Cabernet Franc to participate in this years prestigious “Tasting Tour” in Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Las Vegas, San Francisco, New York, and Washington DC.
The wines will be featured at an upcoming “trade-only” tasting on October 14th in New York at the Bowery Hotel; and again on October 16th in Washington DC at the Charlie Palmer Steak restaurant. An “open to the public” dinner and reception will follow these trade-tastings, where the wines will again be featured.
“It is always an honor for our wines to be recognized in such a significant way; but especially here in light of the nature of the international prominence of the San Francisco International Wine Competition” remarked Rappahannock’s proprietor John Delmare. “It’s especially significant for Virginia that our Cabernet Franc is honored, in light of the growing international reputation of this varietal in Virginia.
The San Francisco International Wine Competition, the largest, most influential international wine competition in America, is judged by a prestigious panel of nationally recognized wine experts. Judging is based on a blind, consensual procedure, ensuring that its rigor and integrity remain the nation’s most respected competition.
The Annual Tasting Panel Tour is in it’s second year; and has a goal of promoting nationally these wines which have gained such unusual distinction.
Rappahannock Cellars has been producing award winning wines for over 9 years in Virginia; after John Delmare relocated his family’s winery from the Santa Cruz Mountains of California to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.
