Rappahannock Cellars Wines continue their Steady Stream of Winning Gold and “DOUBLE GOLD” Medals
at the 2008 Tasters Guild International Wine Competition
HUNTLY, VA, May 12th 2008 – Rappahannock Cellars 2006 Cabernet Franc was awarded a “DOUBLE GOLD” medal at the 2008 Tasters Guild International Wine Competition. This was the only DOUBLE GOLD medal awarded to a Virginia winery in the competition.
Additionally, Rappahannock Cellars was awarded three gold medals, of only ten awarded to Virginia wineries, for its 2005 Meritage, 2006 Chappell Charlemagne Vineyard Chardonnay, and its 2006 25% Viognier – 75% Chardonnay blend. Silver medals were collected for the 2007 Rose’, 2007 Seyval Blanc, and the 2007 Vidal Blanc (off-dry).; and a bronze medal for the Rappahannock Cellars 2006 Claret.
Rappahannock has also been awarded gold, silver and bronze medals at a variety of competitions so far this year including the Finger Lakes International Competition, the National Womens Wine Competition, the Pacific Rim International, and the San Diego International Wine Competition.

The 2008 Tasters Guild International Wine Competition judged approximately 2000 wines from over 15 countries and 30 states/provinces. The competition is judged by eminently qualified individuals with extensive experience in wine tasting and judging vinifera, labrusca, and hybrid grape varieties. Judges include wine writers, retailers, wholesalers, educators, restaurateurs, winemakers and experienced consumers from around the country.
