HUNTLY, VA, JUNE 30, 2008 – Rappahannock Cellars 2006 Cabernet Franc was awarded a “DOUBLE GOLD” medal and named “Best in it’s Category” at the 2008 San Francisco International Wine Competition. Best of Category defines the wine as the Best Cabernet Franc. The 2006 Cabernet Franc was also recently awarded a Double Gold” at the Tasters Guild International Wine Competition.

Winemaking News – Notes from the Cellar
October 2007
The cellar is a-buzz with activity and excitement. New wines are being created, and with the incredible crop quality of 2007 we are pretty excited. Tom performed his usual magic in the vineyard which makes our job in the cellar that much easier. We just have to take what God gives us and “not mess it up” – especially in a year like 2007!
The white wines are clean, complex, and showing great promise. The reds are heavily extracted, rich, and bold. We have seen very high sugar levels in 2007 which will produce unusually high alcohol levels in the finished wines. The good news is that the wines have the structure to balance the alcohol. Simply more of what you have come to expect in Rappahannock Cellars wines.
Our plans are very similar to last year in terms of techniques; our goal however is as it always has been in continuing to improve. We have continued to improve the quality of our vineyard and also the quality of our other grape sources. This is the key to continually improving in the cellar….”You can only make great wine from great grapes”.

HUNTLY, VA, July 25, 2006 – Rappahannock Cellars (Rappahannock) has earned the distinguished 2006 Governor’s Cup for its 2005 Reserve Viognier from a field of over 250 entries in this year’s Governor’s Cup Wine Competition. Virginia Governor Tim Kaine presented the 2006 Governor’s Cup, the highest award in the state for a Virginia wine, to John Delmare of Rappahannock at the awards ceremony and tasting at the Tobacco Company in Richmond, Virginia.
