Wine & Run for the Roses Wine Auction

Muscarelle Museum of Art Debuts New Signature Event:

Wine & Run for the Roses Wine Auction

WILLAMSBURG, VA, December 1, 2010 – The Muscarelle Museum of Art is pleased to announce its first annual Wine & Run for the Roses Wine Auction, which it will host on May 7, 2011.  This inaugural event will begin with a silent auction and reception of the finest Virginia wines, showcasing a range of labels from across the Commonwealth. The reception will be immediately followed by a live auction, featuring unique wines and exclusive lots only available through the Museum.  Live auction lots include: Petrus 1970, Screaming Eagle 2003, La Mission Haut Brion 1966, dinner prepared by esteemed Williamsburg chefs, a custom designed jewelry piece, a weekend in Napa Valley, and an African safari.  Over 300 attendees are expected to take part in this exciting debut event, all proceeds of which will directly benefit the Museum — thus continuing to ensure the availability of world-class museum programs for the William & Mary and Hampton Roads communities, both now and in the future.

The Muscarelle Museum of Art Board of Directors is organizing Wine & Run for the Roses with the guidance and assistance of Wine Committee Chair Patrick Duffeler II.  The event exemplifies the evolving role of the Museum in the greater Williamsburg area in which the Museum has become both a cultural and a community institution.

Aaron De Groft, Director of the Muscarelle Museum of Art, commented on this event: “Wine & Run for the Roses provides a creative and engaging new presentation of what has always been the ultimate goal of the Museum: to share its many resources— from the Commonwealth and beyond— with our own local community.”

Tickets for Wine & Run for the Roses are $75.00 per person.  Click here to purchase tickets, or please contact Bronwen Watts at 757.221.2709 or bmwatt@wm.edu.
